• Experienced battery materials scientist and researcher with a record of impact in the automotive and lithium battery industries. Skilled in Li-ion battery materials, battery cell and system testing, characterization, application and development. This expert has also led teams within multinational companies, been the POC for cell suppliers and driven numerous cell R&D efforts.

• ✔ Developed methodologies for Li-ion cell degradation analysis in the Cell Research Lab. Designed experiments for measurement and validation of material and electrode physical parameters (focused on ionic transport properties).
• ✔ Used TLM model and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) to probe equivalent electrical properties of electrodes.
• ✔ Developed in-house chemistry agnostic BMS algorithms for hybrid cell systems.
• ✔ Set up initial chemical scale-up from coin cell to pouch cell for Li-S cathode material.
• ✔ Owned cell selection program and requirements, internal cell specs, performance validation, and DOE for model development and parameterization.
• ✔ Built and validated various 3-electrode cell architectures for transport property measurements and fast-charge prediction experiments.

  • ✔ Designed and maintained cell testing and characterization plan of record - led cell characterization engineering team of 6.

  • ✔ Implemented a new strategy (now used department-wide) for directly measuring electrochemical-microstructural property relationships (i.e. tortuosity, impedance, fast-charging) in in-house and commercial electrodes.
  • ✔ Responsible for having driven numerous cell R&D efforts with a focus on cell degradation analysis and heat generation.
  • ✔ Established and drove cell and material R&D projects with academic and other outside research organizations.
